Dazhbog
Dazhbog is the god of
sunlight, heat, the ripening time of crops, fertility in general
(his name is translated as “the god of heat”). Slavs called him
“the Sun-tsar, Svarog’s son”, his symbols were gold and silver.
Russian people considered Dazhbog
as their defender, naming themselves as his grandsons. Dazhbog —
the Sun-tsar — was spoken about as the first governor, the
founder of the calendar counting of days, the legislator.
Dazhbog was represented flying in
the chariot, in which the griffins — dogs with the bird's wings,
companions of gods of fertility were harnessed. In the hands of
the god there were ritual warders with the image of fern leaves.
